During the Ondo State Cabinet Retreat held in the year 2022, the executive governor of Ondo State, His Excellency – Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, CON requested that the Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation should facilitate a capacity-building workshop for some senior officers of Ondo State.
The workshop was planned and implemented in conjunction with the Ondo State Department of Public Service Reforms & Development. The workshop commenced on Monday, May 8, 2023, and was inaugurated by the Head of Service, Pastor Kayode Ogundele, FCIPM. The workshop was organized for fourteen (14) Permanent Secretaries and ten (10) other participants from the Department of Public Service Reform and Development (DPSRD) and Public Service Training Institute (PSTI).
The workshop was facilitated by Mr. Olaitan Oludare, the Managing Partner at ADAREN, and also a Project Management Professional (PMP) accredited by the Project Management Institute (PMI), USA, using training methods such as lectures, discussion, documentaries, and case studies on real-life projects to elicit participants’ interest, ideas, and involvement throughout the lifecycle of the workshop. Overall, the facilitation approach was interactive as the facilitator ensured that knowledge was not only disseminated but accurately perceived & understood by the participants, as participants shared learnings using questionnaires and an open forum for feedback.
This workshop aimed to train participants on the importance of project management and process improvement to public service delivery and how to manage projects in such a way that the strategic vision of the state government would be achieved. The workshop was targeted at equipping participants with project management knowledge and process improvement skills.
The opening ceremony which was held on Day 1, commenced with an opening prayer by the PS, Ministry of Environment, in the person of Mr. Bunmi Alade. Afterward, the Head of Service, Ondo State Government – Pastor Kayode Ogundele welcome all participants and formally inaugurated the workshop. He implored all the participants to attend all sessions regardless of their various busy schedules. The facilitator – Oludare Olaitan, PMP (ADAREN) on behalf of the Aig-Imoukhuede Foundation, welcomed the participants to the 5-day workshop, afterward, the training commenced with an online baseline survey questionnaire completed by the participants.
Day 5 marked the closing day of the workshop, participants were given the opportunity to share their experiences from the workshop, evaluate the workshop, as well as document their recommendations. The participants appreciated the facilitation team for the excellent training delivery.
The closing ceremony of the workshop on Day 5 was coordinated by Mr. John Oluwafemi Edema, the Deputy Director, of DPSRD. The participants, on behalf of the Permanent Secretary, Ondo State Department of Public Service Reform & Development – Mr. Festus Adewale Omomowo expressed their gratitude to the facilitation team,
